Love story. Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov. Biography of Russian figure skaters Maxim Trankov personal biography

Famous figure skaters spoke about their family everyday life with their new work.

— Your daughter Anzhelika is already 1 year and 4 months old. The first child makes parents worry. Who do champions call for advice?

Tatiana Volosozhar:“I worry even about minor things, so I often call our pediatrician for advice. She knows how to calm me down, sort out all the information, and I act on her advice. I received a lot of useful information from Dr. Komarovsky’s video lessons.

Maxim Trankov:“I was always worried about Tanya. Despite the fact that she is physically tough, and mentally, perhaps even stronger than me. She's so fragile! Now I'm worried about my daughter. For example, when they are delayed even for a short time from a walk. If we are not together, then we call each other forty times a day.

— Gadgets make parenting much easier. What helps you out?

T.V.:— Sometimes “white noise” helps us (a special device makes sounds that calm the baby. — Author). Recently, during a long flight, at some point I had to turn it on for Angelica. A radio/video baby monitor is an indispensable assistant at home: when the child falls asleep in the nursery on the second floor, I can go down to the first floor and calmly go about my business. Sometimes you have to turn on cartoons on your tablet to feed your daughter. Well, in the evening before bed we calm her down by turning on classical music.

Honored Master of Sports, world champion, two-time Olympic champion in 2014, three-time champion of Russia, a wonderful figure skater, who was entrusted to be the standard bearer of the national team at the closing of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. And this is all about him, about Maxim Leonidovich Trankov.

He was able to achieve a lot in one of the most beautiful sports. The athlete's army of fans is huge and continues to grow. But few people know that Maxim Trankov, if not for his mother and now deceased father, could well have been doing something other than sports. But they insisted, and the son had to listen to them. Now he is eternally grateful to his parents for everything he has.

Childhood and youth

Maxim Trankov was born in October 1983 in Perm. The boy was lucky to be born into a family where everyone respected sports - his older brother Alexey, his father Leonid Trankov, a former excellent rider, the first equestrian master in the Urals. Mom Valentina Trankova once coached track and field athletes, and after the birth of her sons, she changed her job to a quieter one - she became a preschool teacher.

Parents brought their youngest son to the skating rink when Maxim was 4 years old. Brother Alexey heard about a new enrollment in the figure skating group and informed his father and mother about this, who had long been thinking about where to direct the too violent and sometimes explosive energy of the youngest.

Little Maxim repeatedly dropped out of classes until he was 8 years old. He wanted to do the same as most of his peers: run to the cinema, play football, sit back and fool around.

Having become a titled athlete, Trankov said that he never fell in love with figure skating. And I liked going out on the ice only because I didn’t have contact with anyone on the side and I could introduce myself at least, at least.

A strict schedule and a clear daily routine were difficult for the boy. And he finally managed to achieve his goal: Maxim Trankov did not go to the skating rink for a year. The parents gave up, but when the first coach Valery Domrachev unexpectedly called them and asked them to return the talented and very promising tomboy to the skating rink, dad and mom took seriously their son. And they returned to the sport.

Maxim ended up with talented coaches, spouses Valentina and Valery Tyukov, in the pairs skating group. But for more than a year, the boy skated on his own - there was no partner for him. In 1994, Trankova was finally found a couple - the same age as Alesya Korchagina.

Figure skating

Maxim Trankov’s professional sports biography began after receiving his first adult category at the age of 11. And when the boy turned 13, joint performances with Alesya ended. Ksenia Vasilyeva became the new partner. It is worth noting that it was with her that Maxim took 7th place at the junior championship, which indicated clear progress. Trankov stayed together with Vasilyeva for 2 years, after which he began performing with Irina Bogomolova.

In 1999, the famous coach Lyudmila Smirnova invited Trankov to move to St. Petersburg and perform with her daughter Irina Ulanova. The guy agrees. The result of the changes was immediate: the couple, under the strict leadership of Smirnova, took 5th place at the junior championship.

In 2003, Maxim Trankov began skating with a new girl, Maria Mukhortova. After 2 years of hard training, the athletes became champions among juniors. At this point, the performances in the young league ended, and it was necessary to move to the adult ranks. But this period was not easy for the couple. In addition to internal conflicts, the guys constantly argued with the coach. In less than six months, the skaters changed 6 mentors, and after a quarrel among themselves, they stopped skating together for several months.

Figure skaters Maxim Trankov and Maria Mukhortova

After a short separation in 2006, the athletes reunited again. Now the coach has taken charge of their preparation. He immediately realized that although the couple likes to conflict, they are still capable of achieving great heights. Vasiliev was right. Trankov and Mukhortova already won the Russian Championship in 2007.

In the Grand Prix final, the guys' luck ran out - they only got 6th place. The reason for the defeat is banal: a few days before the performance, Maxim Trankov received food poisoning. Then the skaters' careers were followed by a series of unsuccessful performances and the final breakup of the couple.

During this period, a talented figure skater was looking for a partner. Tanya's former partner and common-law husband Stanislav Morozov decided to end his career and switch to coaching. Tatyana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov began studying together under the supervision of.

The grinding in of the new tandem was almost painless and fairly quick. In 2011, Maxim and Tatyana won the Russian Championship.

Couple Trankov and Volosozhar with gold medals at the 2014 Olympics

The 2011 World Championships in Japan were canceled due to the earthquake. The skaters went there on the eve of the disaster. Within a few days after the incident, contact with them was lost. Then everyone got scared. But, fortunately, the athletes returned safe and healthy.

The tournament of the best figure skaters on the planet was moved to Moscow. And this first major international start for Trankov and Volosozhar brought silver awards.

In 2013, Maxim Trankov and his partner skated at the World Championships, where they took 1st place for the first time in their careers. This victory was extremely difficult for them, since Maxim’s father died on the day of departure. With a huge effort of will, the athlete managed to cope with his feelings and concentrate on the performance. It was dedicated to my father. Trankov and Volosozhar won.

In 2014, Maxim Trankov, together with Tatyana, represented Russia in pair skating at the Olympic Games in Sochi. On February 11, the first stage of the sports pairs competition started. The Russian pair Volosozhar-Trankov won the short program. Moreover, the skaters broke the world record, scoring 83.79 points.

On February 12, 2014, the decisive battle took place. Maxim and Tatyana skated a free program to music from the rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar”. The guys had no equal. With a margin of 18 points, they became Olympic champions. It was an unqualified triumph.

This was followed by a break of one and a half years. The skaters did not start the new season due to Maxim’s injury, received while performing an element in training: he fell while running and stuck his shoulder into the ice. Trankov's fall from his own height (187 cm) turned out to be much more serious than initially thought, and he had to undergo surgery. The couple missed the Grand Prix, the Skate America tournament in the USA and the Cup of China.

At the tournament in Nebelhorn, Germany, the guys won again. But the skaters withdrew from the next stage. This time Tatyana was forced to take care of her health.

A new return to the skating rink brought the athletes gold medals. These victories were achieved at the national championship in Russia and in Bratislava, at the continental championship.

A television

In 2016, Maxim Trankov participated in the popular TV show “Ice Age”. The singer and finalist of the 5th season of “Star Factory” performed together with him. Became the duo's coach.

Maxim Trankov and Yulianna Karaulova in "Ice Age"

This season of Ice Age turned out to be the most scandalous in history. In addition to the issue about the Holocaust and, there was also a scandal with the Trankov-Karaulova couple. Maxim quarreled with a member of the jury, who, in his opinion and the opinion of many thousands of spectators and even fellow judges, gave the couple an unfairly low score.

Maxim Trankov categorically told the TV presenter that the project gave him a lot, and he found a huge family, expanded his circle of friends, but she - Oksana Pushkina - came on the show to win enemies. Judging by the applause, the audience sided with the skater.

Some fans, seeing the passionate performances of Maxim Trankov and Yuliana Karaulova, started talking about non-sports relationships. But there really was no romance. The contestants are excellent actors who played their roles well.

In 2015, Maxim tried on the role of a commentator for figure skating competitions. The skater’s voice is heard behind the scenes on Channel One and Sport 1. On Match TV Trankov comments together with.

Personal life

For a long time, there was very little information about the personal life of Maxim Trankov. The athlete did not like to dwell on this topic, and he did not give any reason for rumors or scandals. Busyness and a tight work schedule did not allow the skater to be distracted by anything else outside the skating rink.

However, the athlete found his soul mate on the ice. She became, as many suspected, Tatyana Volosozhar. The sports couple turned into a married couple.

Tanya and Maxim legalized their relationship in 2015. The beautiful and noisy event took place in the popular restaurant “02 Lounge”, which is located on the roof of the Ritz-Carlton hotel. The bride wore a luxurious dress from.

And in the fall of 2016, fans of figure skating and this wonderful couple learned good news. In September, after the skaters returned from an ice show in Japan, Tanya announced she was pregnant. Maxim Trankov, which, he admitted, he had been dreaming about for a long time.

Their daughter Angelica, born in February 2017, was given a double surname by her parents. Tatyana joked that she does not envy those who will have to indicate the girl’s name in the documents in Latin. When the time came to baptize the baby, Tanya’s sister Olga and the figure skater were chosen as godparents.

Maxim said in an interview that in a family the wife is “responsible for a sober head,” and he is responsible for emotions. Trankov is simple and kind only on the ice, but in life he rushes into the embrasure, cutting the truth in the eyes, where it is better to remain silent, something will definitely “blurt out”. At the same time, he understands that in the eyes of others he looks like an evil person, and when they hurt friends or Tatyana, he can hurt.

“I can find a weak spot in a person and press on it very hard, taking him out of a state of mental balance. Sometimes I even feel disgusted by the way I do it. It is precisely because of this character trait that people especially dislike me.”

Even his own name Mach (Max) "Instagram" the skater was transformed into xam_trankov (boor Trankov), so that it would be clear to those who came to the page from the very beginning who they were dealing with. Most of the photos on the account are images of his daughter and wife.

Maxim Trankov now

In April 2017, the couple began training to participate in Ilya Averbukh’s ice shows. The athletes hoped to get back into shape for the Olympics in Korea. But in the summer they realized that “everything in the sport has already been said,” talked with the coach and the Russian Figure Skating Federation and decided to end the performances. I didn’t want to irritate the team, in which the 3 main couples were led by Nina Moser. In addition, the current situation around Russian sports did not add enthusiasm.

In 2018, the Olympic champion was invited to mentor the show “Ice Age. Children”, which was led by and. It was more difficult for Maxim than for coaches Tatyana Navka and, since the programs were dance, and Trankov performed in a sports pair.

In September, a book was published dedicated to the sports path of Maxim and Tatyana. The figure skater said that “Two Sides of the Same Coin” is addressed primarily to the parents of aspiring athletes and young people who dream of a podium. Perhaps the story of one of the most beautiful couples in world figure skating about what they experienced and what they sacrificed will save the new generation from mistakes and tell them what not to be afraid of.

Maxim Trankov and Tatyana Volosozhar in 2018

Now Trankov has another responsibility - the couple's coach -. At the end of the World Championships, Nina Moser, the former mentor, decided to reduce the workload and entrusted the athletes to her best student. Evgenia and Vladimir have already won the first start of the 2018/2019 season - Finlandia Trophy.

Awards and achievements

  • Honored Master of Sports of Russia
  • Four-time Russian champion
  • Four-time European champion
  • World champion
  • Two-time silver medalist at world championships
  • Two-time Olympic champion
  • Knight of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree

Two-time Olympic champion 2014 in figure skating Maxim Trankov told R-Sport correspondent Anatoly Samokhvalov about his imminent return to the ice and why this event will take place. So far, the agency’s interlocutor and his partner Tatyana Volosozhar have more questions than answers, but the athlete openly shared the logic of his intentions.

Maybe we'll say goodbye at the test skates

We start training in April. But not in order to prepare for something, for example, for the Olympics, as they like to do in our sport. We just start training because, in addition to sports, we have ice shows. But we keep in mind the possibility of participation in the test skates of the national team’s skaters in the fall. Either say goodbye to the audience there, or perform at the Russian Championships... We are not talking about the Olympic Games. And first of all, I don’t want to irritate the young guys who are preparing for the Olympics. Now we do not declare this, but at the same time we will look based on our own capabilities and our form. Because we had a child and Tanya still needs to recover. It is unknown how long this will take. But in April we really plan to go on the ice.

Saying goodbye to the audience at test skates - does this mean that you can end your career at this event?

Perhaps even so. We haven’t discussed this (the issue of ending our career) yet, but in any case we will need to appear somewhere to do it. Our last competition was the World Championships in Boston, and we did not announce our retirement. But we will need to announce this somewhere. And now our task is to simply go out on the ice, remember the sensations, the elements, and in the future we will look at the situation. But, of course, we don’t look as far as the Olympics in Korea. For now, we’re just getting back on the ice and maybe we’ll go to test skates, because no one has kicked us off the team yet, and participation in them is our direct responsibility. We did not discuss this topic with the Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR). But we don’t completely rule out the possibility of participating in the Olympics. Although this possibility is very slim. This is a very, shall we say, foggy future, which... Well, very foggy.

- So, training in April is more of a preparation for the show?

Yes. We will not beat ourselves in the chest and answer that we are preparing for the Olympic Games. We want to do a short program, because it can be performed in a show, it is not something particularly complicated. We want to make a short one because we had one very good idea that we never implemented.

- Is it too early to voice this idea?

Certainly.

- Can you name the director too?

We can’t name either the director or the coach yet, because in principle they don’t exist. We need to talk to people, we need to think who we can be useful to. Who wants to work with us?

- No coach? Are you in a group?

Nina Mikhailovna now has the first three couples in the country. I think that for her at this stage of preparation for the Olympic Games we are the fifth wheel of the cart. It would probably be wrong to interfere with the guys on the ice and occupy the coach’s attention. I think that Nina Mikhailovna is not very interested in this.

- Working with you?

I think yes.

- Are you ruling out the possibility of cooperation with Moser?

I very much doubt the possibility of this cooperation. We have lived a long life in our figure skating. And it is clear that when a coach has a balanced team for three years before the Olympic Games, all three pairs are leaders in Russia, perform at the European and World Championships, potentially have one foot in the Olympics, as well as at other important competitions of the next season, then go there and it’s unlikely that anyone will allow us to destroy an established team in the first place. Secondly, from a moral and ethical point of view, this is not entirely correct.

- I have a strong feeling that Nina Mikhailovna views you as her skaters.

Of course, we are her skaters. We have come a long way with her, and she has walked it with us. She has turned from a junior coach into an excellent specialist, a professional in her field. And Tanya and I reached the top together with her. Of course, we are her couple and will always remain her couple. But Tanya and I don’t really want to dilute her group by sprinkling sand on the ice. It’s not very convenient for us to be on Nina Mikhailovna’s team also because we have a small child, and her group really likes to skate during training camps and the skating rink is not very conveniently located relative to the place where we live. In short, everything is complicated. Again, we do not exclude this possibility, but, again, it will be very difficult to do.

We didn’t talk to Nina Mikhailovna about this topic. She herself learned from the press that we were going to start training in April.

I’m not saying that Nina Mikhailovna doesn’t need us, that we’re some kind of abandonment, I don’t want to look like some kind of victim. I’m saying that it’s not Nina Mikhailovna who thinks so, but that it seems to us that she doesn’t really need us, because now she has a team and it’s impossible to break it up. That's how we understand it. To take us, she needs to bring out Ruffnut and Enbert. At least push it into the background. Why did she lead them like this for so long? So that Volosozhar/Trankov would return later? This is also wrong. The situation is very difficult. There is no conflict here, just a very difficult situation between us as athletes and our coach. That's all.

"Tanya drags me onto the ice"

- Tatyana misses ice?

Tanya - of course! She is our figure skating fan, not me. First of all, it is Tanya who pulls me onto the ice and wants to skate. This is our job now, I hope we will skate in ice shows this summer, in Japan, somewhere else. We need to get on the ice, because I also haven’t trained since the Ice Age. I'm also completely detrained. You have to understand that when you missed almost the entire season, and in our case we are talking about both of us, it is very difficult to return to a high level. First of all, I would like to reassure the fans and spectators, because there are a lot of comments on the Internet about our supposed statement about returning to big-time sports. I would like to tell them that it will not be easy for us to return to the level that is expected of us. You need to do nothing, but only practice figure skating twenty-four hours a day. And since we have a small child, we cannot afford it.

- What do you expect from Evgenia Tarasova / Vladimir Morozov and Ksenia Stolbova / Fedor Klimov at the World Championships?

I just want to wish them stable and good skating and execution of their programs. Everything is in their hands. This year we have a kind of swing in figure skating: the “dark horses” Tarasova and Morozov, on whom neither the federation nor Nina Mikhailovna at one time relied, have realized their potential. Tanya and I always stood up for these guys and said that they were a really strong couple capable of winning, but we were usually given a bunch of reasons why this was impossible. Therefore, we are very happy for the guys this season, for the fact that they won the two main competitions at the moment - the Grand Prix Final and the European Championship - and finally made them believe in themselves, I hope that the federation and, above all, the coach .

But Stolbova and Klimov need to return to a high level, they are gradually doing this. I believe that fourth place at the European Championships is not a tragedy for them, because they missed a lot, and in Ostrava, the French (Vanessa James/Morgan Cipres) also scored well, who, due to the change of coach, with new emotions, are performing well . To Stolbova and Klimov - first of all, stable skating! If they perform like this, they will believe in themselves and the judges will appreciate them. It is important for them to consistently skate both programs in order to enter the next season as a pair that is capable of fighting for medals.

If we take this part of the season into account, then, probably, Tarasova/Morozov is our main hope for medals. And Stolbova/Klimov is the pair with whom I still competed. And I know how they can jump out from behind and bite painfully, so both of these pairs will fight for awards, and in the best case, for gold.

Tatyana Andreevna Volosozhar. Born on May 22, 1986 in Dnepropetrovsk. Russian, formerly Ukrainian figure skater (pair skating). Honored Master of Sports of Russia (2011), International Master of Sports of Ukraine.

Her mother is from Kaliningrad, and her father is from Nizhny Tagil. Tatyana's father is a military man, he served in Ukraine.

Parents brought four-year-old Tanya to the skating rink with her sister. My sister quickly got tired of skating, but Tanya liked it. But at first they didn’t want to take the girl into the sports section because she was plump. As a result, they only accepted me into the subscription group - with the condition that in a month, if something works out, they will enroll in the section.

Tatyana began taking figure skating seriously at the age of five with Lyudmila Viktorovna Petrovskaya. Figure skating lessons took place in Dnepropetrovsk in a specially organized special school in parallel with training in primary school. At the age of seven she won her first competition in single skating.

At the age of 14 she switched to pair skating. Together with her first partner Peter Kharchenko, she trained with Vyacheslav Tkachenko, and later with Galina Kukhar. Tatyana and Peter became champions of Ukraine in 2004 and were prize-winners at the junior stages of the Grand Prix. At the adult level, the couple did not achieve much success and broke up.

In 2004, Tatyana teamed up with Stanislav Morozov. With him, they became champions of Ukraine three times, twice silver medalists at the Winter Universiade, and participated in the Olympics in Turin (where they finished 12th). The couple trained in Kyiv with Galina Kukhar, the program director was Nikolai Morozov.

In the summer of 2008, it was announced that Volosozhar/Morozov were moving to Germany to work with coach Ingo Steuer.

In the 2008-2009 season, the couple, having become third at the Cup of Russia and second at the Cup of China, for the first time in their careers won the right to participate in the Grand Prix final, where they became fourth. After returning from Korea to the training base in Chemnitz, Germany, the couple considered it inappropriate to make another flight to Ukraine to participate in the national championship and performed “out of competition” at the German championship.

At the European Championships they again finished fourth. At the 2009 World Championships they took 6th place and provided Ukraine with two tickets to the 2010 Winter Olympics in pair skating.

In the Olympic season, the couple became champions of Ukraine for the fourth time, and took fourth place at the European Championships for the third time in a row. At the Olympic Games we were 8th, and this was the last start in Stanislav’s career.

After completing her partner’s sports career, Tatyana teamed up with Maxim Trankov. The couple decided to perform under the Russian flag.

In the fall of 2010, Volosozhar began the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship. She entered into the “Program to Assist the Voluntary Resettlement of Compatriots Living Abroad to the Russian Federation,” which can include citizens of the former Soviet Union, as well as their direct descendants, who want to work and live in Russia. In December 2010, I received a Russian passport.

Nina Moser became the duo's coach, whom Stanislav Morozov began to help, and Nikolai Morozov, who returned from the USA, helped in staging new programs. Both Tatyana and Maxim had to relearn the technique of performing many elements and adapt to each other.

The couple's official debut in Russian competitions took place in October 2010 at the third stage of the Russian Cup in Perm, which they won. In conditions of serious competition, the couple won the 2011 Russian Championship, leading in both programs.

According to the rules of the International Skating Union, athletes who transfer to the national team of another country must serve a one-year “quarantine”. Since Tatyana’s last start for Ukraine was the 2010 Olympics, the new couple could not enter the international arena until February 16, 2011, and they missed the European Championship.

To participate in the 2011 World Championships, Tatyana and Maxim, as a new couple, needed to score a minimum technical result (in pairs it is 17 points in the short program and 30 points in the free program). To achieve this goal, the couple took part in the Mont Blanc Trophy tournament in February 2011 (held in Courmayeur, Italy), immediately after the end of the “quarantine”. Tatyana and Maxim not only easily scored the required amount of points, but also became the undisputed leaders of the tournament, winning both types of programs.

The 2011 World Figure Skating Championships were initially scheduled to take place in Tokyo. Tatyana and Maxim flew to Japan in advance to acclimatize and conduct several training sessions. The couple arrived in Tokyo hours before the March 11, 2011 earthquake. Contact with the skaters was lost. A little later it turned out that, fortunately, they were not injured. The skaters and coaches spent some time at a training camp in Fukuoka, quite far from the epicenter of the earthquake, but due to the increasing danger and the unclear fate of the championship, it was decided to evacuate the entire team home to Russia.

As a result, the 2011 World Championships took place in Moscow. It became the first major joint international competition for Tatyana and Maxim, but they were immediately able to climb to the podium, taking 2nd place.

The 2011-2012 season started off difficult for the couple. Maxim was plagued by injuries. First, having fallen unsuccessfully in training during the summer preparation for the season, he received a shoulder injury, and in the fall his groin injury worsened. However, the couple was able to win two international tournaments of the so-called category B (Nebelhorn Trophy 2011 and Ondrej Nepela Memorial 2011) and both of their Grand Prix events (Skate Canada International 2011 and Trophée Eric Bompard 2011). Moreover, when the stages were distributed in the off-season, Tatyana and Maxim had the opportunity to take a third additional stage, but they limited themselves to two, considering that this would be enough to get to the finals.

Despite the lack of optimal shape due to the constant struggle with injuries, the couple easily reached the Grand Prix Final, taking first place in the ranking after completing all stages. In the Grand Prix Final, leading after the short program, the couple made several minor mistakes in the free program and eventually took 2nd place, losing a total of only 0.18 points to their main competitors Savchenko-Szolkowy.

As it turned out, not only Maxim competed with an injury in the Grand Prix final, but also Tatyana (thigh muscle injury). The couple decided to skip the Russian Championship in order to recover in time for the main starts of the season. At the same time, they were guaranteed a place in the Russian national team, despite missing the national championship. Both Tatyana and Maxim underwent treatment at a New York clinic, one of the few in the world specializing in the treatment of such sports injuries.

Tatyana and Maxim, leading in both programs, confidently won their first joint European Championship, although, according to them, the victory would have brought them much more pleasure if their main competitors Savchenko-Sholkov had not withdrawn from the tournament due to an injury to their partner. Tatyana and Maxim said that after the removal of the German couple, they to some extent lost motivation. In addition, Tatyana has not yet fully healed her injury. Because of these reasons, athletes did not strive to show their maximum at this tournament.

On December 18, 2013, the Federation of Sports Journalists of Russia awarded both the “Silver Doe” as the best athletes of the year.

In 2014, at the Winter Olympics, Tatyana and Maxim became champions in team competitions; in particular, for the short program they scored 83.79 points (beating their closest rivals by almost 10 points) and bringing the team 10 points. On February 11, 2014, the couple already won the short program in individual competitions, breaking their own world record by 0.19 points in total points. Olympic champions of Sochi 2014 in pair skating. On February 12, 2014, the couple won the Olympic gold medal in the individual competition.

After this, the athletes took a break for a year and a half. Maxim was undergoing treatment. The couple appeared again in Germany at the Nebelhorn tournament, where they became winners. Next, the couple performed at the Trophée Bompard Grand Prix stage, however, after short programs (where the skaters were in the lead), the competition was canceled for security reasons (a series of terrorist attacks occurred in the French capital).

The couple withdrew from the next stage due to Tatyana’s injury. At the national championships, the skaters confidently won gold medals. In Bratislava, at the continental championship, the couple confidently won gold medals. At the world championships in Boston in early April, the Russian couple managed to take only sixth place.

Then the couple took a break from performing due to Tatyana's wedding and pregnancy.

Tatyana Volosozhar was born in Dnepropetrovsk into a Russian-speaking family. Her mother is from Kaliningrad, and her father is from Nizhny Tagil. Tatyana's father is a military man, he served in Ukraine.

In the fall of 2010, Volosozhar began the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship. She entered the “Program to Assist the Voluntary Resettlement of Compatriots Living Abroad to the Russian Federation,” which can include citizens of the former Soviet Union, as well as their direct descendants who want to work and live in Russia, and in December 2010 received a Russian passport.

Stanislav Morozov was Tatyana’s common-law husband for a number of years (she started dating him at the age of 17), a former partner, and after finishing his career he became one of the coaches of the Volosozhar-Trankov couple.

After breaking up with Morozov, Volosozhar had a personal relationship with her partner Maxim Trankov.

Parents brought four-year-old Tanya to the skating rink with her sister. My sister quickly got tired of skating, but Tanya liked it. But at first they didn’t want to take the girl into the sports section because she was plump. As a result, they only accepted me into the subscription group - with the condition that in a month, if something works out, they will enroll me in the section.

In the 2008-2009 season, the couple, becoming third at the Cup of Russia and second at the Cup of China, for the first time in their career won the right to participate in the Grand Prix finals, where they became fourth.

During the Olympic season, the couple became champions of Ukraine for the fourth time, and took fourth place at the European Championships for the third time in a row. At the Olympic Games we were 8th, and this was the last start in Stanislav’s career.

Biography of Maxim Trankov:

Maxim Leonidovich Trankov is a Russian figure skater who competes in pairs skating. Honored Master of Sports of Russia.

Maxim Trankov's parents brought him to the skating rink in the fall of 1987 (his older brother Alexey saw an advertisement for recruitment into a figure skating group). Maxim did not show any special desire or aspiration, but his mother and father, being athletes in the past, insisted on a sports career. I skated until I was eight years old without much success and dreamed of quitting this business. The dream came true, and Maxim did not ride for a year. But Trankov’s first coach Valery Domrachev called his parents and invited them to return Maxim to the sport, to coaches Valentina and Valery Tyukov. So Maxim ended up in a pair skating group, where he skated alone for two years. At the age of 11, he teamed up with Alesya Korchagina and completed the first adult category already in pairs. After two years of skating together, the couple broke up. Maxim began skating with Ksenia Vasilyeva, with her he achieved seventh place at the junior championship. Two years later, Trankov was already skating with Irina Bogomolova.

In the summer of 1999, Maxim received an invitation from Lyudmila Smirnova, moved to St. Petersburg and paired up with her daughter Irina Ulanova, with whom they skated for three years and achieved fifth place at the national junior championship.

In 2002, Maxim Trankov moved to the Velikov group and paired up with Natalya Shestakova.

In 2003, Maxim began skating with Maria Mukhortova, and in 2005 the couple won the World Junior Championships.

The transition to the “adult” category was not easy for the couple. They had a lot of conflicts with each other and often changed coaches. We worked with Tamara Moskvina, Artur Dmitriev. In 2006, we broke up and didn’t ride together for several months.

In 2006, the athletes once again changed their coach, Oleg Vasiliev became the new mentor. Immediately after this, they confidently won the 2007 Russian Championship, they did not go to the European Championship of the same year due to Maria’s injury, and at the World Championship they finished 11th.

In the 2007/2008 season, the couple became silver medalists at the Russian Championship, losing to Yuko Kawaguchi and Alexander Smirnov, and later beat them at the European Championship, becoming second after Alena Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy. At the 2008 World Championships, having failed several elements in both the short and free program, the athletes took only 7th place.

In the 2008-2009 season, the couple took third place at the Skate America tournament and became second at the Eric Bompard Trophee, qualifying for the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Finals for the first time in their careers. There they took sixth and last place, having performed poorly in the free skate. One of the reasons for the unsuccessful performance was Maxim’s poor health due to acute food poisoning (several athletes and judges were poisoned at this final). Immediately after the end of the competition, Maxim was taken to the hospital. Two weeks later, at the Russian Championships, being leaders after performing the short program, in the free program, Maxim did not complete both jumping elements. Later, commenting on the unsuccessful performance, the athlete and his coach claimed that the cause of the failure was the stress received while performing the program in Korea. As a result, the couple again became silver medalists at the national championship. At the European Championships, after performing the short program, they were first, ahead of Alena Savchenko and Robin Shelkov by almost three points, but in the free program they again made a number of mistakes, took fourth place and ended up only third. At the World Championships we took fifth place.

In October 2009, for the first time in their careers, they won the stage of the “adult” Grand Prix series - “Trophee Eric Bompard”. In the Grand Prix final we took 4th place. Then, they repeated their last year’s results at the Russian and European Championships.

At the 2010 Olympic Games, in the short program, Maxim fell while performing a triple sheepskin coat, the couple made several more mistakes and ended up in 8th place. In the free program they were 5th, but in the end they could only take 7th place.

At the post-Olympic World Championships, the duo made a curious mistake - while performing a throw in a free program, their partner fell. They took 4th place.

After the World Cup, Maxim Trankov announced the breakup of his couple with Maria Mukhortova and his departure from coach Oleg Vasiliev. The breakup occurred on Trankov’s initiative. Among the reasons that prompted Maxim to make such a decision, he highlighted the lack of mutual understanding with his partner and the biased attitude of the coach.

Tatyana Volosozhar Maxim Trankov: joint performances:

After the end of the sports career of her partner Stanislav Morozov, Tatyana Volosozhar received an offer to pair up with Maxim Trankov, who was left without a partner, which the athlete accepted. The duo's coach was Nina Moser, who is assisted in her work by Stanislav Morozov, and Nikolai Morozov, who returned from the USA, helped in staging new programs.

Since Tatyana’s last start for Ukraine was the 2010 Olympics, the new couple could not enter the international arena until February 16, 2011 and they missed the European Championship (January 24-30, 2011).

The 2011 World Championships were initially supposed to be held in Tokyo. Tatyana and Maxim flew to Japan in advance to acclimatize and conduct several training sessions. The couple arrived in Tokyo hours before the March 11, 2011 earthquake. Contact with the skaters was lost. A little later it turned out that, fortunately, they were not injured. The skaters and coaches spent some time at a training camp in Fukuoka, quite far from the epicenter of the earthquake, but due to the increasing danger and the unclear fate of the championship, it was decided to evacuate the entire team home to Russia. . As a result, the World Championship took place in Moscow.

In the Grand Prix Final, leading after the short program, the couple made several minor mistakes in the free program and eventually took 2nd place, in total losing only 0.18 points to their main competitors Savchenko-Sholkova.

The 2012-13 season was triumphant for the couple. The highest quality and complexity were achieved (including two different triple jumps), for the first time the judges gave the highest 4th level of difficulty for absolutely all elements, many of which were rated with a maximum quality bonus of +3, as well as almost maximum scores for components of 9-10 points, which allowed them to win all 8 competitions in which they participated. On the way to the 2013 European Championships, Trankov received news of his father’s death, but found the strength to win the competition with a large advantage. At the 2013 World Championships in London, Canada, with a large advantage of 20 points, he became the world champion for the first time.

On December 18, 2013, the Federation of Sports Journalists of Russia awarded both the “Silver Doe” as the best athletes of the year.
